It is One Nottingham’s ambition for Nottingham to be a city of aspiration – where children and adults have high expectations of themselves and their future, and have the motivation and abilities to follow their ambitions.
Nottingham is a diverse city with wealth and deprivation side by side, and many challenges to face – in employment, education, skills, and health and wellbeing. The lives of Nottingham’s people and its communities can vary enormously.
One Nottingham has no quick fixes, but there are many ways we encourage people to aspire and to succeed. We are committed to raising ambitions and aspirations across all of Nottingham – we want everyone to share the success of the city (and the country) and for no-one to get left behind. One Nottingham is committed to working to provide everyone in Nottingham with a fair opportunity to live a safe and fulfilled life.
One Nottingham continues to support initiatives which facilitate a good start in life and encourage people to create and to take opportunities. We have done this through support to Business in the Community, Small Steps Big Changes, Opportunity Nottingham, Women in Notts and the Nottingham Young Creative Awards. We facilitate bids, work with organisations across the sport and cultural sectors, such as Football in the Community and the Creative Quarter, local and national businesses and continue to promote early intervention.
The One Nottingham Board, as part of a review in 2016, gave a commitment to champion and model fairness and aspiration across partners and partnerships in Nottingham and encourage others to make a pledge to achieve the same
