Nominations are now invited for the 8th Nottingham Awards. Nominations are welcomed for people who have made a significant and lasting impact for Nottingham. This impact can have been locally, regionally or internationally.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of twinning with Karlsruhe in Germany and so to mark this anniversary we are also asking for nominations for people who have contributed to Nottingham’s international friendship, particularly our partnerships with our twin cities.
People who are eligible to receive a Nottingham Award should not have received a major award for their contribution to the city (such as an MBE or similar UK award).
The closing date for nominations to be received is Friday 16th August 2019.
The awards will be presented at an annual event at the Nottingham Council House, which marks the Goose Fair each year. The people who have been shortlisted will be invited to take part in a memorable evening.
You can view photos from last years’ awards here www.onenottingham.org.uk/?p=5613 when the recipients were Melanie Duffill – Jeffs, Alistair Conquer, James Mellors and the Kanneh-Mason family.
Please send your nominations to email@example.com.
In your nomination you should include contact details for you, the nominator; the reasons why you think that the person you are nominating should receive an award; and the name and contact details of the person you are nominating, (including telephone number and email address) so that they can be contacted.
You may download a form from here if you prefer:
The first Nottingham Awards were presented in 2012 to Nottingham people who had made a major and lasting contribution to Nottingham and who had not received awards for their work, and who had now finished the roles they were awarded for, or had left Nottingham.
Awards are made in three categories, for people who have made their contribution from:
- The Public Sector
- The Private/Business Sector
- The Voluntary and Community Sector
Potentially a special award is also made, where one is deemed appropriate by the judges.
The decisions will be made by a panel of judges. The criteria which the panel will apply to make the award will be:
- Has the nominated person made a significant and lasting impact for Nottingham, locally, regionally and potentially internationally?
- Received other awards for their contribution to the city (such as MBE or similar UK award)?
- Made their contribution whilst having lived in, worked in, or made Nottingham the centre of the work that the nomination/award recognises?
- Contributed to Nottingham’s international friendship, in particular with one of our twin cities?
The decision of the panel will be final.
You can nominate a person by completing the form and sending it to the address at the bottom of the form. Please complete the nomination form as completely and accurately as possible. It is important that you can provide as much information as possible about the nominee and try to explain what their actual contribution has been, as opposed to just listing jobs or posts held. You may use additional sheets of paper to support the nomination.
Please send nominations to general@Onenottingham.org.uk
The use of this form is not compulsory. If you are unable to complete the form, nominations can be accepted in any format so long as it contains sufficient information for the panel to consider the nomination, and to contact the nominator and the nominated person should they need to.
