Health and Wellbeing Board

The Nottingham City Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board will act in shadow form until it is formally constituted as a statutory Health and Wellbeing Board by Nottingham City Council in April 2013. Health and Wellbeing Boards were introduced by government as part of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.

During the interim period the Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board (the Board) will promote the development of robust and appropriate governance arrangements to ensure the effective introduction of the formal statutory Health and Wellbeing Board and will oversee relevant transitional arrangements for health, social care and public health until the new arrangements are fully in place for the NHS.

The Board will lead and advise on work to improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Nottingham City and specifically to reduce health inequalities. It will be responsible for the Healthy Nottingham strand of the Nottingham Plan.

The Health and Wellbeing Board is chaired by Councillor Nicola Heaton and the vice chair is Dr Ian Trimble.
