Communities & Neighbourhoods

The Communities and Neighbourhoods Theme Partnership was established in April 2007

On  behalf of One Nottingham , to oversee the development and delivery of the following policy areas:

Neighbourhood Management.

Community Empowerment and Engagement.

Active Citizenship.

Community Cohesion.

Voluntary, Community and Faith sectors.

This will be achieved through:

1) Overseeing the development of the City's approach to Neighbourhood Management. The approach should reflect national and local policies.

2) Overseeing the development of the 'stronger communities' element of Nottingham's Local Area Agreement:

  • agreeing the specific outcomes and targets;
  • agreeing action plans to deliver the agreed outcomes and targets;
  • ensuring  clear lines of accountability;
  • performance managing the targets within One Nottingham performance management framework;
  • reporting progress to the One Nottingham Board and acting on its  recommendations;
  • negotiating with public, private, voluntary and community sector partners to accelerate delivery.

3) Overseeing  the development and the implementation of One Nottingham's Community Empowerment and Community Engagement Strategy. This approach should reflect national and local policies.Young people getting involved in community work

4) Overseeing the management of the Communities and Neighbourhoods theme of the Working Neighbourhoods Fund and other relevant partnership funding programmes in line with the requirements of the Accountable Body to achieve the agreed outcomes of the Local Area Agreement. This includes:

  • advising the One Nottingham board on spending proposals
  • overseeing the monitoring and performance management of the funds against agreed targets
  • involvement in the WNF and any other relevant commissioning frameworks

5) Supporting the development of strong, active and effective voluntary, community and faith sectors

6) Promoting Active Citizenship and Community Cohesion
