The Partnership is chaired by Mike Wilkins, Non Executive Director at NHS Nottingham City and includes representatives from NHS Nottingham City, Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, the voluntary sector and local businesses.

In particular the partnership is responsible for:

  • the "Healthy Nottingham" strategic priority in Nottingham's Sustainable Community Strategy
  • Adult health improvement targets included in Nottingham's Local Area Agreement
  • Nottingham's new Health and Wellbeing Strategy

The minutes from the Health and Wellbeing Partnership meetings are available to download from this web page, please click on the links in the menu to the right.

Aims of the Health and Wellbeing Partnership

The Partnership aims to reduce health inequalities in Nottingham – so that no one is disadvantaged by who they are or where they live.

One of the main priorities is to reduce heart disease, and the Partnership does this by working with local organisations to:

  • promote physical activity
  • provide healthy eating advice
  • support people who want to stop smoking

A range of services are provided in order to promote and deliver these messages and activities. For example:

  • Change of Heart Health Trainers – these are local people who support adults wishing to adopt healthier lifestyles by: directing them to local services and activities, helping them to overcome barriers which may be stopping them from becoming healthier and encouraging them to set and achieve goals around stopping smoking, eating more healthily and becoming more physically active.
  • Ecoworks – this is a local community organisation that runs practical projects to benefit local people and the environment. One of Ecoworks' projects is the Fresh Ingredient Project (FIP) – a fun, friendly and FREE healthy living programme all about fruit and vegetables – how to grow them, cook them and just eat more of them!
  • New Leaf – the FREE NHS stop-smoking service for smokers who live or work in Nottingham, offering support and advice through one-to-one, drop in or telephone sessions with a personal advisor.
